Louis Vuitton, French elegance and luxury
A distant origin
When it was created in 1854, the French leather goods brand only manufactured luggage. Its founder, Louis Vuitton then invented the flat trunk, easier to stack and therefore to transport. In the 1870s, his son encouraged him to expand abroad. It is a real success. In 1888, in order to avoid counterfeiting, he adopted a new beige and brown checkerboard print with the inscription “Marque Louis Vuitton registered”.
In 1896, four years after his father's death, Georges Vuitton personally created his famous revolutionary “Monogram LV” canvas, which he made the brand's emblem. A perfectly waterproof coated canvas in light grey, called "Gris Trianon", resistant and light to replace leather.
